A Dog’s Diary

• 8:00 am – Dog food! My favorite thing!
• 9:30 am – A car ride! My favorite thing!
• 9:40 am – A walk in the park! My favorite thing!
• 10:30 am – Got rubbed and petted! My favorite thing!
• 12:00 PM – Lunch! My favorite thing!
• 1:00 PM – Played in the yard! My favorite thing!
• 3:00 PM – Wagged my tail! My favorite thing!
• 5:00 PM – Milk bones! My favorite thing!
• 7:00 PM – Got to play ball! My favorite thing!
• 8:00PM – Wow! Watched TV with the people! My favorite thing!
• 11:00 PM – Sleeping on the bed! My favorite thing!

A Cat’s Diary

• Day 983 of my captivity.
• My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.
• They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape.
• In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.
• Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a ‘good little hunter’ I am.
• There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of ‘allergies.’ I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.
• Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow — but at the top of the stairs.
• I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches.
• The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released – and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded.

The Cat Peed Where?!

Our twelve year old cat has a serious attitude problem. I can think of no other reason for why he insists on peeing all over everything. We have had to deal with this for years, and I am finally at the end of my rope.

Years ago, he had some health issues relating to his bladder. He would form crystals in his urine and end up at the vet and on antibiotics. We had that problem fixed, but he continues to pee outside of the litter box. He has done it since he was a kitten.

He will pee on anything that is out of place, any rugs, towels, or blankets on the floor, purses, shoes, and furniture. He has peed on me. We had to pull up all of the carpeting in our house because he peed on it. He has destroyed furniture, photos, and clothing. Several years ago, a week after I bought a brand new laptop, he peed on it and destroyed it.  We had to throw out our living room furniture. Now, I am afraid to bring any other furniture into the house, because he will just ruin it, too.  So the main floor of the house is basically empty. My husband just refinished the hardwoods, so it looks great, but there is nowhere to sit. The cat rules this household.

He is healthy. He is neutered. He is not de-clawed. He is fed regularly and well. His litter box is cleaned daily, sometimes more. I don’t know what to do anymore. I am convinced that the problem lies in having three cats, but these three have been together their entire lives. And, as I said, we clean the box frequently. We live in a fairly small house, so there is no other place to put an additional litter box.

This cat has ruined so much. I am constantly running around scrubbing cat pee, and I am tired of it. Because of him, I will never have another cat. Never.

I think he needs a home with only him in it, but I don’t know how we will find that. Nobody will trust that he won’t do the same in their house.

I just don’t know what to do with him. Has anyone had any experience with this? How did you handle it?

Australian Dog Leo a Hero.

Leo is one brave pooch. When the Jack Russell Terrier mix’s home caught fire, he refused to flee the flames with his human and canine family. Leo wasn’t going anywhere without the litter of four newborn kittens that were trapped in the fire.

When firefighters arrived on the scene of the house fire in Melbourne, they went in to the structure believing that there was still a person trapped inside. When they entered through thick smoke, they didn’t find a person, but an exhausted Leo, keeping watch over the box of kittens.

Rescuers brought Leo and the kittens outside to safety, but Leo had stopped breathing. He was given life saving oxygen and heart massage, which revived the amazing dog.

Thanks to Leo, everyone-human, canine, and feline-was rescued. Check out the video of this amazing animal below.
